Wyoming classifies a load as a superload once it exceeds 160,000 lbs gross weight or 17' in height.

Escort & pilot car rules
- Loads 20' wide or greater: 2 front + 1 rear escort on primary/secondary highways; 2 rear escorts on Interstate highways.
- Loads 18' or greater in height require advance route authorization from utilities, cities, and counties.
When you can travel
- Superloads and oversize/overweight loads are subject to route-specific approval by WYDOT and the WHP Overweight/Superload Loads Office before travel.
Signs, flags and lights
Most states require
- An “OVERSIZE LOAD” banner on the front of the truck and the rear of the load.
- Red or fluorescent orange warning flags at each corner and at the widest points of the load.
- Amber warning lights or clearance lights when moving at night, where night travel is allowed.
