Indiana State Police define a Superload as any load over 108,000 lbs, 17' wide, 15' high, or 110' long.

Escort & pilot car rules
- Escort required starting at 12'4" width, 110' length, or 14'6" height.
- One escort vehicle positioned in front on undivided highways, in rear on divided highways.
- Additional/police escorts required for Superloads (over 17' wide, 15' high, 110' long, or 108,000 lbs).
When you can travel
- Standard oversize travel window for the largest loads: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.
- Loads under 200,000 lbs may receive continuous (7-day) travel privileges.
- Superload/escort movements generally restricted to weekday daylight windows.
Signs, flags and lights
Most states require
- An “OVERSIZE LOAD” banner on the front of the truck and the rear of the load.
- Red or fluorescent orange warning flags at each corner and at the widest points of the load.
- Amber warning lights or clearance lights when moving at night, where night travel is allowed.
